Needle Felting for EMP
I have been so exhausted from my new position. I'm finally half way through the year and I have a renewed sense of creativity---and I'm trying to run with it.
My two friends, Brad and Maggie, are putting on a show in February through their nonprofit, EMP Collective. It's all about rejection and it's call "...and you just not good enough." I felt bad for not taking the opportunity to submit my own art. I knew that time and distance were factors that I had no control over. My exhaustion from work didn't allow much time to actually want to create. After seeing them over the holidays, I finally came up with an idea. I decided to needle felt thirty hearts (anatomical and geometric) for them to sell at the show. I made magnets, pins and a few bracelets. I was so happy that I could be a part of the effort and to have the chance to create something again. It felt good. Haha. No pun intended ;)
Then, Vanessa wanted to learn more about felting, so I took my supplies to Orlando for a visit. She fell in love with it and it helped me to get excited about it again. I think we both love working with wool because it is instinctual and textural.
Here are a couple pictures of the hearts. Enjoy!
